Barcelos is a portuguese region in the north of the country and "Figurado de Barcelos" is the art of creating unique pieces, with small pieces of clay, and modeled entirely by hand, to later be painted entirely by hand, with bright and cheerful colors.
They represent typical scenes of the culture of "Minho", the border region of northern Portugal with the Atlantic Ocean, as well as representation of bestiary (devils, distorted and ambiguous figures), or religious figures of saints and celebrations. It is an art of excellence with unique pieces, carrying a certificate of authenticity.
All pieces are made entirely by hand, for that reason each one of them is unique.
